Air Returnee Center, Frankfurt, 1949 (Source: Webmaster's collection) The 7705th Air Returnee Center at the Baseler Hof Hotel in downtown Frankfurt, houses the joint operations of EUCOM (later USAREUR), MATS, and USAFE that is dedicated to processing military personnel and dependents arriving from the U.S. or leaving for the U.S. by air (from Rhein Main Air Base). Activated in February 1947, the center processes between 1,500 and 2,000 persons a month.
